Infrastructure

Infrastructure equates to 20% of the investment in construction in the UK.

From roads to railways, airports and seaports, society uses critical infrastructure every day. This infrastructure has a lifespan and will need to be replaced. MTC are undertaking projects in partnership with industry to understand how we can upgrade our infrastructure using manufacturing, digital and sustainable techniques.

These projects will not only benefit the infrastructure sector but also impact the whole supply chain where MTC will also be working to upskill the workforce.

A key element of the MTC’s work in social infrastructure is its leading role in the Construction Innovation Hub (link https://constructioninnovationhub.org.uk/), the Hub is a core partner in UKRI’s Transforming Construction Challenge programme, which aims to transform the way buildings and infrastructure are designed, manufactured, integrated and connected within the built environment. Creating high-performing buildings and infrastructure with strong levels of safety, quality and energy performance.
