MTC announces GE Additive as new member

The MTC is delighted to announce that GE Additive, a world leader in metal additive technology manufacturing, has joined as tier 3 members since 1st September 2020.

Through their integrated offering of advanced machines, quality materials and additive experts GE Additive empower their customers to build innovative new products. Products that solve manufacturing challenges, improve business outcomes and help change the world for the better.

Ross Trepleton, Chief Engineer for NCAM said the following:

“We are excited to be working with GE Additive, to develop industrial AM applications for the UK High value manufacturing sector across GEs range of AM technologies. By working in partnership, we aim to demonstrate how the correct implementation of AM can deliver business benefit in the short and long term.”

Using the GE Additive Arcam EBM Q20plus, the National Centre for Additive Manufacturing (NCAM) team, based at the MTC, supported the Formula Race team at Oxford Brookes Racing (OBR) ambitions in electrification. The work conducted showed the potential for Electron Beam Melting in the automotive industry. Thus showing the partnership between GE Additive and the MTC will help change the industry. There is great work already underway with metal additive across the aerospace and automotive sectors in the UK, but there’s still a deep seam of untapped potential. We’re delighted to continue our collaboration with the MTC and NCAM to demonstrate that potential and accelerate adoption of additive into British manufacturers’ supply chains.
