MTC WELCOMES DELEGATION FROM THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA, DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

The

In January the MTC was honoured to host Dr Srivari Chandrasekhar, Secretary to the Government of India, Department for Science and Technology.

We were hugely appreciative to have been part of the Indian delegation’s visit to the UK, and would like to thank the British High Commission in India for its support. The visit was hosted by senior members of the MTC team, including Ken Young, Clare Pickin, David Grailey and Joe Darlington. Ian Joesbury, member of the MTC Board commented:

It was a great pleasure to receive the delegation from India, led by Dr Srivari Chandrasekhar, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology. We had the opportunity to share a selection of the excellent work carried out by our engineers and to hear some of the innovative ways the Government of India is helping science transition into true innovation. All parties found the visit enjoyable and enlightening, and I am sure there could be some real opportunities for successful collaboration in the future.
Ian Joesbury, Non-Executive Director, MTC

The delegation was shown some of the advanced manufacturing the MTC is engaged with, and the breath and variety of our work, including a hands-on experience with the haptic feedback ‘REACHER’ robot.

We were also delighted to host a networking lunch where representatives from the Energy Systems, Connected Places, Compound Semiconductors and Offshore Renewable Energy Catapults joined the discussion.

The Indian Department for Science and Technology expressed a keen interest in working with the MTC to help build partnerships with Indian research centres, and ongoing work is already being undertaken to develop these ideas.
