Jon Evans
Group Manufacturing Director, BAE Systems
The MTC Board represents our visionary founding institutions, The University of Birmingham, Loughborough University, and The University of Nottingham as well as industry leaders. They drive innovation and ensure MTC remains at the cutting edge of UK manufacturing advancement.
Jon oversees the UK & RoW Manufacturing function at BAE Systems, leading a team of approximately 13,500 people. He chairs the Global Manufacturing Council and is a commissioner on the government's Made Smarter Initiative. As Group Manufacturing Director, Jon focuses on People, Process, and Technology, ensuring group standard processes, learning, development, and technology solutions are effectively implemented across sectors and programmes.
Previously, Jon served as Transformation Director for the Procurement function in the AIR Sector, driving organisation design, business process re-engineering, and supplier strategy. His extensive experience includes roles in Manufacturing, Engineering, and Project Management, beginning as a Manufacturing Engineer and Supervisor on projects like Tornado, Airbus, and T35 Goshawk. He later advanced to executive roles, contributing significantly to the Typhoon and F35 programs.
A Mechanical & Production Engineering graduate from Aston University with a Master’s Degree in Engineering Business Management from Warwick University, Jon joined BAE Systems in 1991 after starting his career at ICI Acrylics. He is also an active mentor with the North West Aerospace Alliance, Productivity Through People and Be the Business.
